Over the weekend of August 3-5 over 5000 bloggers (mostly women) attended the largest blogging conference in the US (probably the largest in the world but who’s counting), BlogHer. This was my 3rd year to be able to attend and I wanted to share with you some pictures from the weekend and introduce you to some classy cloth diaper bloggers that I know and love. Not all of them write about cloth diapers but they all use (or have used) cloth diapers on their babies.
Yes, that’s me and my other half enjoying the sights of New York City. We stumbled upon the Late Show at CBS.
Jenny is a mom of 2 babies both in cloth diapers. Jenny also writes about living an eco-friendly life, teaches Pilates, and raises chickens in their backyard. I love catching up with Jenny at her blog Conscientious Confusion.
If you use cloth diapers and don’t know Kim from Dirty Diaper Laundry you absolutely must go check out her video cloth diaper reviews and tutorials. She is one of our best cloth diaper friends and a longtime customer of Kelly’s Closet.
Amanda and I met earlier this year at another blogging conference (Blissdom). She is a super awesome mom and owner of the blog The Eco Friendly Family. She has some amazing cloth diaper resources on her blog including her cloth diaper FAQ’s and downloadable guide to cloth diapering.
Another well known cloth diaper blogger, former retailer, and Twitter Party host is Julie from The Cloth Diaper Geek. Julie has cloth diapered twins, owned her own cloth diaper store, and now mentors cloth diaper companies on how to use social media.
Janice is a new friend of mine who I have known online for a while. Janice writes at Momma Words blog and is also an accredited Real Diaper Association Circle Leader in Ventura, CA. Janice writes about cloth diapers and lots of other eco-friendly and parent related topics.
Kerri is another virtual friend that I met late last year and a blogger who works with so many different aspects of parenting, reviewing products, and her kids favorite cloth diapers. Kerri is a mom of two and very savvy in social media!
This was the last night of BlogHer at the famous CheeseburgHer party (if you’re wondering why we have glow stick crowns). From L-R: Calley (me), Tiffany (Nature Mom’s Blog), Lisa (Condo-Blues), and Stephanie from Good Girl Gone Green. Tiffany started blogging about cloth diapers before my daughter was born and before there were many online resources. Nature Mom’s is a must read for any eco-momma! Lisa doesn’t have any kids but writes about eco-friendly living and DIY projects. Stephanie is also a mom and used cloth diapers on her baby, she writes about an array of eco-friendly topics.
One of my favorite bloggers and authors is Beth Terry from My Plastic-Free Life. I’ve been reading Beth’s blog since she was formerly known as Fake Plastic Fish. Beth began her blog several years ago when she found images of dead birds that washed ashore with nothing but plastic in their stomachs. Having had no children of her own Beth consulted (and interviewed) me in her new book that was just released this summer, Plastic-Free Living. Beth felt that even though she wasn’t a parent she still wanted to provide tips to parents who wanted to kick the plastic habit. Cotton prefolds, flats, and wool covers is a great way to diaper your baby with no plastic.
Ah, Gina!! Gina and I met back in 2010 and I absolutely love her heart and soul. She is a mom of 3, a blogger, a Doula, and one of the best resources online for expectant parents. If you’ve never read The Feminist Breeder you really need to check out her Resource Guide full of information about cloth diapering, breastfeeding, VBAC, home birth, and parenting – with an edge!
I could write for days about this trip but I really wanted to introduce you to some great bloggers that you should check out. I’m so honored to be able to call this entire group of bloggers friends.
What other diapering or parenting blogs do you read?
