Small Business Saturday

Shop SmallDid you know that Diaper Shops and Kelly’s Closet is a family owned small business?  When you shop at our online retail store you are supporting our employees and their families while you stimulate the local economy.  Many of the brands of cloth diapers we carry are American made which stimulate the American economy even more.  That’s why we are asking you to “Shop Small” this holiday season.

This November 26 is the second annual Small Business Saturday®, when people across the country come out and shop to support their favorite small and local businesses.  There is a complete Facebook page dedicated to Small Business Saturday and there is even an opportunity for you to Shop Small and Get $25 Back from American Express.  While this is not a program that we initiated or sponsor we know that in these economic times any chance to save money by supporting your favorite small businesses is helpful.

How to you Get $25 Back?

  • Register your American Express card online with Small Business Saturday,
  • Shop at a qualifying small business on Saturday, November 26th,
  • and use a registered American Express card.

Would you like to know more about us?  Who are you supporting when you “Shop Small” at Diaper Shops & Kelly’s Closet?

Bobbi-Jean Palmer:  Bobbi has owned Kelly’s Closet for over a year now and lives in South Paris, ME with her husband and 2 young children.  Bobbi works diligently every day to keep the store stocked with your favorite products and provides us all with her comic relief during the day.

Jill:  A veteran at Kelly’s Closet, Jill has worked at the store since the very beginning (did I mention that Kelly’s Closet is 10 years old?) so she certainly knows her way around a cloth diaper.  Jill lives in Norway, ME with her husband, son Wilder (age 3) and their newest addition Parker who is our newest little cloth diaper tester.  I hear Parker got to sleep in her very first itti bitti Tutto last night!  Jill packs up your fluff and provides customer support.

Melissa:  Wife and mom of 2 tweens, Melissa lives in Hebron, ME and has worked with the company for a little over a year.  Melissa is one of our fluffy mail fairies who package your diapers and receives in all the great products.

Tracie:  Our newest addition, Tracie started working with us in March and does a little bit of everything around the office.  She lives in Oxford, ME with her husband and 2 tween boys.

Janet:  Our mighty accountant, who tells us how much money we have to buy more fluff, has worked with the company for over 4 years.  Janet lives in Oxford, ME with her son.  Janet has raised 2 children and is enjoying her two young grandchildren.

Deedee:  Another veteran around Kelly’s Closet, Deedee has worked here for 3 years alongside her own daughters, Jill and Karley.  Her and her husband are new empty nesters since their youngest moved out.  Deedee helps with pulling and procession orders, and is another one of our customer support experts.

Karley:  Deedee’s daughter Karley has worked with Kelly’s Closet for almost 5 years now.  Karley and her boyfriend live in South Paris, ME with their cat.  Karley helps with all aspects of processing your orders and customer support.  Many of you have received phone calls and emails from Karley trying to help resolve any problems you may have.

Calley:  You may have seen me on Facebook or Twitter (I’m a Twitter junkie!) answering your cloth diaper questions but I am also an integral part in bringing you the best promotions and sales on your favorite brands.  I have worked with Diaper Shops since April 2011 and live in Tampa, FL with my husband and 2 young children.  My daughter is almost daytime potty trained and I’m depressed that my cloth diapering days are almost over!  You may also know me from my personal blog The Eco Chic.

Stacy:  Stay-at-home mom (Work-at-home mom if you ask me) to her four kids range in age from 1 to 8, Stacey is a self-proclaimed “diaper addict.”  Stacy is our Facebook guru, loves to try new diapers, and will discuss all things diaper (and non-diaper) related with you on our Facebook page.  She is the master of laundry issues and has tried just about every diaper we sell.  Stacey and her family live on the West Coast.

Kelly:  I had to save the best for last!  While Kelly no longer owns and operates Kelly’s Closet and Diaper Shops she still plays a very important part in our business.  Kelly has stayed on as our business consultant and assists us in purchasing, marketing, and social media.  On snowy days (Kelly still lives in ME as well) you may even see her pop on Facebook to answer your questions.  Kelly is the author of the Changing Diapers, a Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapers book and owner of

Special thanks to another small business, iCreative Media:  Stacey (with an ‘e’) and her team provide all of our graphic and website support for Kelly’s Closet, Diaper Shops, and our blogs.  They make us look pretty and we keep them very busy.  We consider them part of our family as well.

Well that’s our little family!  Every time you make a purchase at Kelly’s Closet (Diaper Shops) you are supporting our small family and our families.  We can’t thank you enough for all your support and love you share with us each day.  We love our jobs and love watching all of your babies and families grow.  Thanks for being part of our family!
