Would you like to earn a commission just by referring your friends to Kelly’s Closet? Are you a blogger? Did you know that we have an affiliate program just for you?
What is affiliate marketing? It’s a revenue sharing program that allows you to refer your friends, followers, blog readers, and Facebook fans to your favorite stores. Once you sign up to become an affiliate you will receive a unique affiliate ID. You can place that affiliate ID on your website or share the code with friends on other social media networks. When your friends and followers click on that link and place a purchase at our store you earn a commission based on their purchase. After your balance exceeds $10 in your affiliate account we send you a check (or store credit – your choice) and you have now learned the basics of affiliate marketing and are free to spend your money any way you like. *Note: We typically process affiliate checks quarterly or upon request.
Who can become an affiliate? To become an affiliate all you need to do is create an account with us at Kelly’s Closet and sign up to become an affiliate. To register you need to enter a social security number (or EIN # if you have a business tax number) and a link to your blog or website. Why do we need a tax number or SS#? Affiliate income is a taxable income and we don’t want to upset Uncle Sam. When you sign up to become an affiliate you’ll want to review the Terms & Conditions carefully because there are some rules that you need to follow. Finally, we will review your application and send you an approval notification to your inbox. That’s all it takes to become an affiliate.
I’m an affiliate, now what? Once you have become an approved affiliate it’s up to you to make the program work for you. When you sign into your account you’ll want to go to “My Account” and click on the “View Details” link next to the Affiliate section. At the bottom of that page you’ll see a section called “My Links” with some banner ads and unique HTML codes. Each one of the codes has your unique affiliate ID associated with it so be sure to copy the information correctly. You can place these graphic banners directly on your blog or website in the sidebar, header, in a blog post, or any place on your blog you would like to place it. We’ll go in and approve new orders regularly and about once a month you’ll get a summary of the orders that have been approved.
Tip: It’s a proven fact that text links perform better than banner ads. When you talk about an item or product that you love be sure to include your affiliate link. An example affiliate link will look like this: http://www.kellyscloset.com/?AffId=210 *Note: The 3-digit number at the end will be your unique affiliate ID. This link will take you to the home page of Kelly’s Closet.
How do I link to a specific product using my affiliate ID? Let’s say you are writing a blog post about the new ones&twos diapers that you have fallen in love with. To help monetize that blog post you can include a direct link to the ones&twos diapers AND include your affiliate ID. When your reader clicks on the link to buy that new diaper you’ll earn a commission. It’s a little more time consuming but you’ll want to follow these simple steps to make the most out of your links.
Step 1: Find the product page on Kelly’s Closet and copy the URL. For our example here is the product page for the ones&twos. http://www.kellyscloset.com/onestwos-AIO-Cloth-Diaper-Solid-Colors_p_4530.html
Step 2: Customize the URL to look like this: http://www.kellyscloset.com/product.asp?itemid=4530&affid=210 Note that we’ve copied the item number from the code in Step 1 and entered our unique affiliate ID. This can be done with any product in our store using the same pattern.
Step 3: Add this hyperlink code within the body of your post. An example sentence might look like this: “I absolutely love the way the new ones&twos all-in-one diaper fits on my skinny newborn.”
Start earning today! That’s really all there is to getting starting. Now you just have to write some great articles that will make your readers want to visit our store. Remember that the FTC has guidelines for full disclosure on affiliate links, product reviews, and sponsored posts that bloggers have to follow. We encourage all of our affiliate bloggers to Blog with Integrity.
